Time is just racing by - at my job, it's very busy and I'm working as best I can to stay as close to caught up as possible, but there's lots of work to be done outside of my day job - housework, gardening, dog training, yoga training - it's all just coming at me at warp speed. I've been contemplating why it feels this way and what I can do to change it or how I feel about it, but no answers have come to me yet.
I'm sorry I'm not here right now, but I just don't know what else to say; I just opened "a new post" and let my fingers type. Change is in the air my friends, I'm just not sure what it is.

My weekend inside
Oh yes, I'm still here (sorry for the absence of blog posts)- I had to get some boring stuff over with. Today, I was really hoping it would rain as forecasted because I had to clean my work room up - wouldn't you know it, it's a perfectly gorgeous spring day and I have to be inside at 23 degrees C! I hate being inside on sunny days! Also, I had to put together my income tax so I can drop it off at the accountant tomorrow- yes, I'm one of those jerks that wait until the last minute to file. There's no excuse for it. Poor accountant. The only thing that might make it a little better is that my forms go fairly fast (I'm uncomplicated on paper!) and we still have 2 weeks before the deadline, but yes, I admit, I'm a last minute filer!
On Friday, Eco and I were at the playground, playing on the apparatus and Eco jumped off a platform which is made of metal with pencil eraser sized holes (for drainage I assume). A minute or so later so stepped on my shoe and I saw blood, so we went straight home. It appears that maybe she got two of her toe nails caught in a hole when she jumped down. On Saturday morning, I went to wipe her feet before she came in the house and she let out a very loud yelp! Then I was concerned it was more that just her nails - what if she broke a toe? So I took her to the vet.
The vet checked her out and figured it was just some bruising but it was still a problem in a few days, we'd x-ray it. In the meantime Eco was given some pain relief. Boy is that dog zonked out! It's so strange to see a 1 year old lab sleeping so much. When she's up, she does want to play, but I'm afraid she'll hurt her foot again since the pain killer is in effect.
And now it's 4pm and I think I can finally go outside and read a book or pick up some knitting. My work room's not totally clean - but it's workable until the next raining day - this is Vancouver after all - I don't have to wait too many days for a rainy day! I'll be catching up with y'all soon!

The Wind Down
As our yoga studio prepares to shut it's doors in two weeks, each visit seems to present something new. Piece by piece the studio is coming apart. Last night there was no more internet or computer so no more scanner to sign in, and we had no candles for our night class - correction - we had ONE candle which was placed on the floor in the middle of the room.
As a customer, I didn't think it would affect me, but the studio isn't like other businesses. We become comfortable and familiar with the other people that attend the same classes and they seem to be going through different emotions as well.
Have you ever been through something like this?

Cheese
My mother often tossed out non-compostable spoiled foods like sour cream or cottage cheese in the toilet. Once she plugged the toilet real bad by tossing some old pickles in it.
I learned from that mistake but obviously didn't learn the lesson well enough because today I tossed a 2" x 2" x 3" brick of old Feta cheese found in the back of the fridge, thinking it would slide right through the system. Well it didn't. And my husband is very angry at me.
It took a few extra flushes and some help from a plunger and now everything's a-okay, but he's still not too happy that I did it.
Am I the only one? What have you flushed down the toilet that didn't go as well as you thought it would?

Nothing is something
I got nothing. Yup, I got nothing interesting to say.
This weekend we: bought a new composter, put it together and transferred all the old compost into the new, put out the solar lights in the garden, painted some garden ornaments, took down last year's 'false bamboo' and other miscellaneous garden activities. I also did some knitting and laundry, took the dog for a couple of walks and cooked a really good brisket.
With the help of Jp, we cleaned out my closet, this time tackling shoes and removing about 40 pair (?). I still have lots left, and now I can get to the ones I wanted to wear. I also got rid of some suits and blazers and other outdated ensembles that I haven't worn for a long time. And, we already dropped it all off at the charity - less chance to change my mind.
Lots of busy work, no time for real crafting and nothing interesting, but hey look at that - I did find something to say. Thanks for reading!

Quote of the Day
"All the woulda-coulda-shouldas layin' in the sun,
talkin' 'bout the things they woulda-coulda-shoulda
done... But all those woulda-coulda-shouldas all ran
away and hid from one little did."
-- Shel Silverstein, Author

Compost went splat
This morning when I was playing with Eco (my 1 yr old lab) in the back yard and I discovered our composter 'fell' over. I don't know if it just fell, or if maybe a raccoon helped a bit. The bad part is I don't really have time until tomorrow to fix it (it's bad enough that I cleaned part of the gutter yesterday in my pajamas and housecoat), so now every time I let the dog outside, I have to keep her away from it. At least it's fairly well composted and it's spring so I would have been turning it over anyway.

The Bad News and the Good News
Friday night I received an email telling me that my yoga studio was closing at the end of April. I was very sad. I really liked the people, the instructors, the environment, the energy. What was I going to do now, go to the Rec Centre where it's smelly and loud and just not the same? (okay, maybe not the first two, but it is definitely not the same).
I decided to ask people in my Saturday morning class where they were going to go. Many thought the Rec Centre was their only option too, then our instructor came in and told us that she was going to offer classes in her house - the same classes that I was taking! But she only had room for 6 people, and it was first come, first served. I tried very hard not to think about it during my class but I really wanted to be one of the six.
After class, I got in my car and started to drive home but decided I couldn't wait any longer, so I pulled the car over and wrote her an email from my Blackberry, right then, right there - that I wanted to be on her list!
The good news - I'm in! Yay!

Nontraditional Easter
We have a very nontraditional Easter - that's our tradition!
Instead of turkey or ham, this year we had meatloaf - in the shape of an egg and decorated like one using mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, bacon, mustard, ketchup and mayo. (I know, it's very hard to tell from this photo-but the boys were dying to dig in so I couldn't make them wait any longer while I fiddled with the camera.)
As well, we don't give gifts to each other, instead, we head to Granville Street in Vancouver and buy books and magazines at Oscars Art Books and the magazine store next door. Sadly this time, I didn't really find any books this time though, but I did get some magazines:
I put the magazines on the floor, and Eco lay down in front of them, so I decided to include her in the photo since it was her idea.
On our way back to the car, we stopped into a kitchen ware store and found these awesome ice cube trays. One is called 'Gin and Titonic' and the cubes are shaped like the Titanic and icebergs. The other one makes the cubes in the shape of gemstones (Cool Jewels).

Not a diet meal, I know.

Have you ever felt a chicken?
Needle felted I mean. Sheesh, what were you thinking?
My one Easter craft for the year, other than some quick crocheted bookmarks I threw my Easter cards to my mom and brother. All projects were made from supplies I already had.
The Easter bookmarks were made from sock yarn - not bad actually, maybe a little bulky(in Ravelry under "wayoutwear") Also, I have a wonderful supply of wool roving for needle felting, which I'd like to do more of - but then I'd like to 'do more of' a lot of things! You know how it is.

My dog needs to go to the dentist
All right, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it's gotten this bad, but my dog has a slight dental problem we will need to take care of. Do you think it's noticeable?
This is going to cost a fortune to fix!
