That's right, I finally am. It will be in early July, where my mom lives as she can't fly because of her heart attack. A very small affair with close family only.
It's one thing to plan a wedding, but out of province in a town I'm not all that familiar with will also be difficult. There is so much to learn, I sure hope I can do all the planning and arranging. More details to follow once we've made a few reservations.

Wowie zowie! Congratulations! When I got married we kept it small (after 10 years of living together) and did it in a different town than we lived. That was because my Mom also couldn't travel. It all worked out great. Yours will too.
Thanks for the well wishes. And I can't believe our stories are so similar. Anything you want to share - please do! Thanks again.
congratulations!!! so exciting!!
i can't wait to hear of your plans!! have fun with it and do what works for you!! i know you'll have a wonderful day!
I first found your blog when you commented on Carol Browne's blog. I thought you might be my sister (her name is Denise), so clicked on your name. I liked your template (it was the same as mine) and then I saw the quote you have in your title. I used to have the same one over my desk at work. And then you talked about your Mom and how she was 42 when she had you. That's the story of my best friend exactly. I keep coming back because I like what you write about. There was a kind of click.
Regarding your wedding.... I had to do a lot of trusting of other peoples' suggestions because all the planning was done long distance. Do you have help at the other end?
endako jo - that is very interesting. I can't believe you even had the same quote... and now I wish I hadn't changed my blog format. That is really cool to read about all the similarities.
In regards to the wedding, my brother lives there and I've asked him to tell me if he happens to know any of the marriage commissioners and help for recommendations such as hair salons, flowers, etc. I'm waiting to find out. Maybe I should take a weekend trip there to figure some things out? I haven't decided.
And thanks for reading my blog and commenting too. Much appreciated!
Congratulations! We did the same thing when we got married. We got married in Nova Scotia in a small town where Mike was from so his Grandma could attend. It was small and really, really nice. Good call on your part. Enjoy the frenzy of planning for the next little while!
Thanks Carol, I'me feeling better about it, knowing that it's not going to be as tough as I thought. Thanks for the confidence boost!
