We recently celebrated our 7th Wedding Anniversary. Some people says 'time flies" or "it feels like yesterday'. I'm not saying our marriage has dragged on in agony but our wedding day does feel like it was a long time ago. Maybe because we have been together for many, many more years before we got married? That's what I'm thinking.
Our day started out with an exchanged of cards and presents. I don't get to buy for Jp because he likes to buy his own presents, but he bought me this folding workbench/table:
And then we went out for breakfast. For the past couple of years we've been going to White Spot which has now become a bit of a tradition. The first year we went they messed up our order and because it was our anniversary, the manager gave us our meal for free. We gave a big tip to our server and Jp wrote a letter to the company about how good she was. When we returned the following year, she was still at the restaurant and remembered us because of the letter. Apparently she made it to the front page of the company newsletter and received all sorts of corporate recognition and I believe even a cash bonus. We returned each year because of this experience. Sadly when we returned this year, it was her day off but she does still work there, so I hope we'll see her next year!!!
Interestingly, when we went out for dinner - we received bonus food items because the restaurant is closing for a two week vacation and couldn't keep some of the food. It seems like our anniversary has become 'bonus food day'!!! LOL.
One quick note, getting back to the title - do you think this belief still happens? Maybe if you meet and get married a short time later, but since we've been together for 13 years, I don't think it still applies. Any long term marriage advice?

Can I blame it on the moon?
It's been really crappy lately. Is it happening to you too? Lots of crappy things happening, and not just to me, almost everyone I talk to is having a weird and crappy week. I hope you aren't.
And I'm tired. Tired of all the little niggly things - missing clothes, rude people, horrible news stories, broken fences, crappy work stuff, compromised credit cards, invoices sent in error that aren't easily fixable and of course the nosy relative story. Everything takes time to resolve and deal with. Things aren't going smoothly. Of course I'm trying not to dwell on them and I'm watching my 'frame of mind' to ensure I'm not looking for things or placing a bigger emphasis on these things but they are there. And last night at dance almost everyone had what they called a crappy week too! What's going on? Many ladies in the class said the same thing -they had a crappy week but dance class is often the brightest spot in the week. Sure, we don't practice as seriously as some and maybe there's a little to much talking but no matter how I feel when I arrive, for an hour and a half I forget about life and learn new things and have a giggle or two and I do feel better when I get home. I love my dance instructor and I love the ladies in my class and thank goodness things are good between Jp and I, and Eco is the best little dog in the world. (I'm sorry that your dog isn't as great as mine - LOL)
But back to the crappy week - are you having one too? Do you think the full moon has anything to do with it? Or does it have to do with the long weekend - will it be that much more enjoyable because I can escape the crud? What do you do when you have days like this?

Finished Projects for the week
Well I'm kinda proud of myself - I made and finished three projects this week.
First these Vancouver City Wristers in a lovely soft grey donegal (a yarn with flecks of other material)
These are interesting to me because they have the appearance of being cabled but they are not, the pattern is made by increases and decreases - not by holding stitches on a needle and passing them behind (or in front) as you do when you make cables.
Then these Jade/Teal Green Wristlets in a Peruvian Highland Wool - too bad the colour is so off in this photo, because it's actually a very rich jewel tone.
I used my little mini digital camera because I have a gorilla pod for it and it has an easy timer, but it's been a while since I used it, maybe I should've turned off the flash because it's a sunny day today and it seems to have really affected the colours - the actual colour of the wristlets is actually the third colour from the left:
See how completely different it is? And I've tried several other times to capture that colour but I neve get close to that lovely jade as it should be.
I had just taken off my nail polish - what was I thinking - so I sorta hid my hands today. I will have to re-shoot these two photos.
And third, I made this little Doggie Baseball Jersey - it'll fit a 20 pounder or so.
I didn't have any one particular dog in mind, I just wanted to make this sweater. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The raglan sleeves have lovely decreases and it all sewed together very nicely. As well, it's a nice loose knit making it easy to get on and off Fido. Now I just need to find a doggie model.
And in other news, we had our soffits redone this weekend - ripping out the old painted press board and replacing them with proper white aluminum soffits. They are awesome. Now the roof can breath better and it's all finished nicely without any rotting, done professional so everything's finished very well. The guys will come back soon to install a new front and back door and then our next big outdoor project is painting the house, but that's going to have to wait until at least May so everything can dry out. I also need to decide whether I'm going to keep the same colour scheme (blue and white) or change colours - I'm thinking maybe a dark taupe with white and/or black accents.
Oh and you know what else? It was a very beautiful sunny day yesterday - a wee bit cold (-3 celsius) but a glorious sunny day. It was so nice for all of us to be able to work outside and not have to do it in our typical January rain. I am so very grateful for the sun! How glorious. And today too, so soon I'll be off to walk Eco.

It's a Bust
Remember when I was rushing to put together my collection for a photographer to pick out her fall photo props? (See this post) I brought over 17 items and even had a baby to put them on and do a little modelling and there were about 5-7 items that she oohed and aahed over and I thought things were good. Then she asked if I could leave them with her because her photographer friend was coming over the next day. "Mmm, okay" I said reluctantly thinking I could possibly get more sales.
Nope. Didn't happen. When I stopped by on Sunday to pick them up, she handed the bag back to me and only bought the pumpkin hat. It seems her friend must have talked her out of the other ones she liked.
So much for "raining & pouring"

Surprise Redecoration
A friend of mine recently moved houses and then left two days later for a trip with her daughter. The night she returned, she was driving past her house at 1:30 in the morning on her way home and was talking to her boyfriend when she noticed the light was on in her bedroom and she began to panic because she hadn't left the light on before she left. No one had keys to the house (or so she thought). When she got home, she found her boyfriend had set up her whole bedroom - which included painting, buying and hanging the curtains, buying her a duvet cover, buying and hanging art work and setting up her TV. She had no idea this was being done. They had not talked about it at all. He chose everything, the colour scheme the furniture etc.
What do you think of this? Wouldn't you like to be part of the process? Or would you like to come home to fully decorated bedroom that someone else chose for you?
BTW, she's thrilled, so it worked out well. I just think it's a very risky undertaking.
