Feeling Buggy

We had been hearing a noise in our bedroom wall for a couple of days and so we call "the bugman' to help us with it. I wasn't sure if it was ants or wasps or some other critter (snake even?). But he can't hear the sound. 

We tell him we can hear it sitting on our bed, several feet away from the wall. I can hear it at night when I try to sleep. But nope, he can't hear it. He even gets a stethoscope and puts it up against the wall but he can't hear anything. He tells us to call us when the noise returns. We end up calling him 4 times but each time he says he can't hear anything. I get the feeling he's deaf. He probably thinks we're on drugs and hallucinating. He ends up quitting on us since he can't find any signs of bugs or critters outside the house  - he gives up. 

Jp and I both can hear the sound, we pull apart all sorts of places in our house and end up finding a carpenter ant in the attic area. Well where there's one bug there must be more. So he sprays the crap out of the area and then we wait as the bug killer can take up to 2 days to work. It doesn't seem to work so he does it again, this time more aggressively in more areas. Me thinks he's finally stopped the bug problem. 

Now we just need to patch up our gyproc in our bedroom where we cut holes looking for the problem. And thumbs down to "the bugman" who must only take on the easy problems. I hope he gets his hearing checked. And I can finally sleep through the night. 

It's all over + catch up

Well the performance went well - I made a couple of mistakes in my first piece but all in all I think I did pretty good and I think I remembered to smile a lot more than I have in the past. We were doing two songs back to back  and the second one started faster than we thought so I missed the opening pose and the first couple of steps to get caught up to the group. We were complimented on the fact that we didn't let it get to us and that we kept going. It's hard to know how the others did, as I couldn't really see them since I was in front I could only concentrate on myself.

I can definitely say that I am relieved it's over - but glad I did it as this was definitely one of the better performances I've done. I'm getting much better at not being so very nervous.

I hope the video will be available soon, I'd really love to see for myself how our group looked.

Monday was a quickie catch up class and the new summer session starts next Monday. I am looking forward to that as well.

Tuesday was Canada Day - and we had the most amazing weather. Jp and I had to go to a mall to pick up an order, however, we probably spent a  1/2 hour detouring because the Canada Day parade was going right past the mall. It was so nice to have a day off in the middle of the week!

I'm still loving the weather, but the dang mosquitoes make it hard to sit outside - plus I feel so bad for Eco who runs away when I grab the bottle of citronella pet spay (or is covered in mosquitoes the moment she stand still for a second).

I'm dreaming of little seedlings and popsicle sticks

Okay, finally the weather has gotten into the double digits (celsius that is) so it finally feels warm enough to even think of gardening. Even though there are very few plants in bloom the hummingbird has already been spotted, so I'm helping him out by putting up a feeder.

I usually have to skip feeders as it seems that everyone except the intended guest visit them. Starlings on the suet, bees and wasps on the hummingbird feeder and of course the absolute worst offender was the dang bear that scrunched over $200 worth of feeders a couple of years ago. Oh, and I forgot to mention the pesky squirrels.

And every time I put out food I have  to contemplate those that feed on them - should I discriminate against nature? Is is wrong to feed Juncos and Sparrows and Chickadees but not Starlings? Is it bad to allow wasps at the hummingbird feeder? So what do I do? I usually don't put out feeders  and leave it up to my neighbours to deal with the pesky squirrels and starling fights.

But it's early and I'm feeling generous so for now I'll leave out the suet and hummingbird food.

And then I can back to dreaming about my garden - this year I'd like to try "square foot gardening" - are you familiar with it? Any advice?

Gorgeous Long Weekend Ahead

When I checked the weather at the beginning of this rainy week, the forecast indicated we'd be stuck with wetness for several days. We endured days of weird weather - bits of sun, light rain, heavy rain, thunder, sun, mugginess  - sometimes all within the same hour. But late Thursday night I found out that glorious weather has been forecast for this long weekend (Happy Canada Day) - sun with top temperatures between 25-30 celsius. That's a good temperature to be in, not like the 36+ degree weather in places like Phoenix or San Antonio and so I am over the moon to hear about this wonderful forecast.

I thought I'd be spending the weekend in the house, maybe cleaning up my office/work room - but now I plan to be outside - clean up the garden, do some painting and maybe just kick back and relax as it is a long weekend after all.

This morning's 5:30 dog walk was heavenly - the weather was perfect - 18 degrees, a warm wind so early in the day?  I didn't want to come home. In fact I almost didn't, instead of being out for 30 minutes, it ended up being 45. So very grateful for this lovely, lovely weather.

Now off to work -for a productive day with minimal interruptions since so many people take the Friday of a long weekend off as well - and then time to enjoy the weather. I don't even care if there are mosquitoes, I'll put up with them so I can enjoy the warmth and sunshine! Happy Weekend to you too!

Bloody Skeeters!

Summer weather in June/July our area is bittersweet  - yes, I absolutely LOVE the sun and the heat but with it comes the dang mosquitoes. And don't you just hate when you squish one and you're left with a bloody smear? Eeww so gross! Yesterday that happened to me in the car and I had to pull out the wipes to clean my hand and the part of the car I squished it against. And one of my next thoughts leads me to wonder who's blood it was -was it mine (not so bad) or was it some one else's (totally disgusting!) ?

Bad Misquotes

I'm sorry for laughing at the bad spellers out there, but really people, we should be doing a little better at it these days - especially when it's so easier to get to an on-line dictionary or use spell checker.

Today I received an email from a co-worker in another city who asked if I was having problems with "misquotes" No, I couldn't think of anything, I replied; what an odd thing to ask me, I thought. However, when I read more of his email, I discovered that this university grad (which seems to mean less and less these days) was trying to spell....wait for it..... "mosquitoes"!!! Yes, he was complaining about getting bitten by these nasty little insects!!!!

Stay in school kids! (Especially you Chuck - even though you're a fabulous speller for your age!!!)
