Dear sweet readers,

I have just returned from JP's niece's 6th birthday party and must sadly report that my Mr. Funky's Amigurumi monkey* was trumped by Bratz dolls and other commercialized plastic. The card that I had tied to the monkey was ripped off, and "oh I love the card" was uttered but the monkey was tossed into the "opened" pile into someone else's gift bag.

No, I'm not asking for sympathy-it's okay, I'm a big girl, I am just reminding you of the knit/crochet/craft rule that you should carefully pick the recipients of your handmade items. It's my fault, I should have known better.

And people give me the judgy-eyes when I say I knit for myself! There's a reason! I don't particularly care for heart break.
I know you said no sympathy, but I'm sorry you had to experience that. It's the pits. The monkey is very cute. You did a great job!

Oh thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments. "judgy-eyes" that's cute - well what people also forget it that some supplied cost some money... and saying "make me one" and then not handing over materials or cash isn't the way to do it either!

...or the other day our niece's boyfriend said to me, with much anticipation in his eyes, "do you knit?" I was afraid to anwer for fear of what he would want.

Yes, exactly! They have no idea how long it takes. And for me, I have put off things I've wanted to make something for someone else! I wrote up a list of things I have made in the past two years and probably 5% were actually kept by me! I'm going to change that ! (just as soon as I finish a sweater for my mum, and.....)

What? He's cute! I can't believe that. Well, some people are tacky and have no taste. AND I don't care how old they are. That's just rude. Bratz is/are lame.

Thanks Carol! I agree 100%

Thanks all for your support. I'm feeling better about it (I lied, I'm not as tough as I led you to believe). And after a few days of not doing anything, I've picked up the knitting needles to continue on my shawl.
thanks again, MLC
