Frozen Strawberries

Today was a gloriously sunny day, which started out at minus 3 Celsius. Here are my some of frosty sweet little strawberry plants - just waiting for those sun filled days so it can create beautiful red juicy fruit and reward me with sugary sweet little presents... (which the slugs usually get to before me. )

I read somewhere (and my neighbour swears by it, also) that crushed up egg shells repel slugs. Well, I've got PLENTY of egg shells, so I think I'll give it a try in the garden this year. The slugs really loved our kohlrabi last year.

I bet with your chickens you do have lots of egg shells. Yes, they are great for slugs and don't wash away as quickly as slug pellets do - plus the calcium that leaches out of the shells are good for the soil and your plants too.
