A new monkey on the block

Here's my completed monkey from Mr. Funky's Super Wonder Crochet: I made her for JP's 6 year old niece, who invited us to a birthday party this weekend - the invitation was the inspiration for this monkey. I don't think I'll make the eye patch or pirate hat... but you never know!

Now you know what I've been doing for the last couple of nights.

awww. super cute! I know what you mean about kids. I got invited to a birthday supper last weekend for a 14 year old boy (he invited me). He's changed so much in the couple of years I've known him.

Jo - I don't envy you - to me, teenaged boys are the toughest to buy for!
I wish you luck - and please post what you gave, so I can learn too?

Thanks, MLC

Well....I didn't give him anything. Just a hug (I think Art gave him $20, tho). He had already gotten a bunch of stuff from his family and we were just invited to share supper and dessert. He thanked me for coming and even emailed me the next day to thank me again. I've met several teenagers since moving here and am stunned at how different they are from city kids I've known. They really are. They actually talk to you and seem to enjoy hanging around with adults. I keep waiting for snottiness or attitude, but nope. Weird.
By the way....that's crappy about your monkey gift. At least she could have waited til you were gone to toss it aside. I'd probably have taken it back.

Hi Jo! Well I think that's great that he communicated and thanked you. And the fact that he wrote a thank you the following day is incredible. He must have good parents. The kids that I have met down here can barely look you in the eye and usually just grunt. Either that or they think they are sooooo superior to everyone....
The sounds like a wonderful young man. I'm glad to hear there are still some nice kids out there, I haven't met any down here!

Yes, you are right. I should have taken it back but after she was finished opening the gifts the kids moved to the table for cake and the dad took all the presents to the car.... it's probably laying in the parking lot....
thanks for the nice comments
