I watched 2 movies - The Freedom Writers and The Last King of Scotland both of which I thought were very good - so good that I didn't even knit through either of them so I could pay full attention.
Friday night was rough because there were still firecrackers going off and a neighbour who was using a pneumatic hammer until 10pm! Both scare the bejesus out of Jazz so she was barking and growling in her carrier, despite being fed 4 Valiums. The problem was that the kid was here this weekend, so before the whole house was woken up I had to sleep on the concrete floor in the laundry room where the dogs sleep - well until at least 2:30am when the streets get quieter. Not a good night.
Saturday was all right, cleaned up my office and then we went for lunch, except for some reason the restaurant that always served awesome food, wasn't so awesome. I'm wondering if we built up our memories too much or if it's only the first time that's so good because you don't have any expectations?
Sunday we went to Vancouver to pick up some awesome chairs that JP found via the internet; they match his 60's office desk and credenza. He got them at a very good price too - certainly way better than if he found them in a store.
I did cast on for the front of the sweater, but didn't really get much crafting time in this weekend. Although last night I worked on an embroidery project while listening to Lime and Violet's podcast. But I have to be one of those people that has to say, "I can't show you because it's a present and the recipient reads my blog". I understand of course when people post that, but I'm so curious I just MUST know! Sorry, if you're like me, but I don't want to ruin a Christmas surprise.
And here we are, back at Monday again, and time for another grueling work week.

We used to have that problem with our cats in Vancouver. Where we are now, 5 kilometres from the highway, and a kilometre off the side road its very quiet. When the snow falls it is hushed even more. We were remarking on the day after halloween how grateful we were that the animals weren't scared out of their wits by fire crackers. For a week before and after halloween. Next halloween bundle them animals up and bring 'em here for a quiet halloween. We can give 'em doggie treats in their loot sacs.
I LOVE that sweater you're making for your Mom. I sure wish my knitting skills were better. It would take me FOREVER to make something like that. I am just like you, too, about wanting to see what someone is working on. If you posted it on Ravelry, would the recipient go and look there? I guess that now that I've written this, they'll know that they could look there, tho, right? Oh well, I'll be patient and wait til after Christmas for the pictures. I've got several "gifts" I'm working on, but because I'm so slow I'll be lucky if I get even one of them finished in time. Yikes!
Thank you Art - I may very well take you up on that offer! For the sake of my family, they would all be very grateful. Expect a call next October 15th!
Joanne - you're right, only members can log into Ravelry so I could post it there, however, what I made was embroidered so it can't go on Ravelry. If you send my your email address, then I can send you a picture.....
I do love embroidery, too. My favourite is cross-stitch. The older I get, the worse my eyes get, so I now have one of those lighted magnifying glasses that clamps to the table. It is the BEST thing EVER. My email is jblomquist@hotmail.com. Would love to see pics.
