Here I am

Okay. I admit I've been absent this week - and there are a couple of reasons - the first two are to do with work. On Tuesday I had to go with a sales rep for a presentation so I was out of the office most of the day and on Thursday JP and I had a full day meeting in Richmond so we drove out on Wednesday night and stayed in a hotel so he didn't have to fight 2 hours+ of morning rush hour. Both events caused me to be very behind in everything!

Being born in the summer, I just love hot weather, just being out side, ahhh.... I used to say "you can never be too rich, too skinny, or too hot outside". Yes, it's not good grammar, that's why I don't say it anymore (that and I know that you can be too skinny) So I've been outside as well - that's the second reason I've been away from the computer.

While in Richmond on Thursday, I stopped by Daiso and found these goodies:
there are some coloured tapes, a piggy ashtray, some origami paper,
salad tongs, some embroidered greeting cards, notebooks,
papercoasters and some wooden dessert spoons.

Across the street at the Yaohan Centre, I bought these books:

Cotton Time and a book on needle felted animals
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My hair is a chin length bob (at the moment, it's always changing) and I just wanted to even it out. I thought "how hard can it be to cut a straight line?" so I went to First Choice Haircutters. Yup. I did. And it was a big mistake. After the women (who's the manager) finished cutting it, I asked her to cut it again because it didn't look straight. She did some snipping and insisted it was straight. So I left, and sadly I even tipped her.
When I got home and had a chance to look at it in the mirror, it was not straight - I even had a tail! Bah! It's not the 80's dude! So I opened the phone book and picked a salon. I had an appointment for Friday. I told my new stylist my story, and she just shook her head. At this salon I could watch her cut the back of my hair and observed a very straight line. Oh yes, and my bangs are no longer at a 30 degree angle either!It just feels so much better to have a good haircut, doesn't it?
After the haircut I stopped in at the LYS and had a hoot, in fact they even asked me to sit down and chat with them! Way too much laughing for a store! (but that's a good thing) I did pick up some sock yarn and a couple of skeins for a summer shrug, so now I'll be outside knitting, embroidering or completing some more Creepy Crochet, oh and reading too. Oh, and I'll be gardening as well - it's always time to mow the lawn isn't it?
Is it a long weekend for you?
Is it sunny where you are and are you enjoying the summer?
It looks like we'll be fixing the Halloween toilet this weekend. Long story. And after seeing your post on the Creepy Crochet, I bought the book. Mike put in his order like this as he thumbed through the book - "I want this one...and this one...Oh! and I want this one for my desk at work and this guy here...". I've got some crocheting to do.
It's always a long weekend for me. One of the benefits of not having a job, eh? We are finally home after being in Vancouver for almost 4 weeks, so there has been lots of "cleaning" up to do around the place and in the garden. I hope to get my blog updated soon so you can read all about it. Am getting the itch to start a new knit/crochet project. Enjoy your weekend. I hope you get that sun (it was 2C here the other morning....BRRRR).
Doesn't your landlord have to fix the toilet? (just curious)
I sent you an email about Creepy Crochet as some people have had problems with the instructions... I thought you were buying that book for a friend? hee hee
Good for you Jo-Ann! I look forward to seeing your new posts. 2C is pretty cold. I think we got down to 8C one morning last week.
How hot are the days getting? And is sundown around 11pm now?
Awesome Daiso & yaohan bookstore finds!! And love your new crocheted guys-so cool!
And yay for good stylists- I remember I went to Magic Cuts once on a whim(thinking how bad can it be- my bad) and they butchered my hair and used the thinning shears right down to the scalp so much I had spiky patches all thru it- I never went back. Where did you go?
And thank you for the well wishes for Foufi- she sends her purrs and rubs to you...! xoxo
I went to Studio 604 in Clayburn, I'm still undecided but I think I will return - especially since it's not that far of a drive and she did a good job.....
thanks for the nice comments.
And your Magic Cuts haircut sounds pretty sad, you poor girl - did you wear a bandana or hats for a month?
The last 3 days it's been 25C at our place, but it's a little warmer down in the town. It's such a sudden shock that even though it's not really hot or anything, people are suffering (and complaining). It's still staying light til around 11:30pm and the other morning I woke up at 3:30am and it was light already.
